Water around the furnace while the heat is running?
A puddle beside the furnace is a reason to arrange service, but it does not establish where the water started. Heating equipment, connected accessories and nearby appliances can all make the source less obvious than it looks.
Identify the source before choosing a repair
A high-efficiency condensing furnace produces water that must drain away. Drainage problems can leave water where it should not be. An attached whole-home humidifier can also be involved, so a water problem near the furnace does not automatically mean the furnace itself needs replacement. Keep clear of wet electrical equipment
Do not step into standing water near electrical equipment, open a wet cabinet or handle wet switches. If you can safely reach a dry thermostat without approaching the affected equipment, turn the heating system off and arrange service. Do not keep restarting it to reproduce the leak.
