Whole-home humidifier not working—or showing a leak?
If the humidifier is no longer performing as expected, start with the equipment already installed. Repair, routine service and replacement are different decisions; a dry-feeling room alone does not establish which one is needed.
Share the model if already known, any visible control message, when the problem began and whether water is visible near the equipment. If you have a humidity reading, include it along with where it was measured. No particular reading alone proves that a component has failed.
Service depends on the humidifier type
Bypass, fan-powered and steam equipment do not share one universal maintenance procedure. The assessment should follow the installed model rather than a generic parts list or a replacement recommendation made before inspection.

Keep clear of wet electrical equipment. Do not open the humidifier, touch hot steam components or disconnect water fittings to investigate. Contact us about the visible leak and whether nearby heating equipment is affected. For water appearing around the heating equipment, also see furnace water-leak assessment.
Does the whole humidifier need replacing?
Not automatically. The condition of the installed equipment and the confirmed problem should guide the recommendation. A service visit can establish what work is appropriate before you choose a replacement.
